Burg Berg wins Swingtime at Hollywood Park
October 11, 2010INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) - Burg Berg ended an eight-race losing streak with a win in the $59,190 Swingtime Stakes, a mile race for fillies and mares Sunday at the Oak Tree meeting at Hollywood Park.
Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Burg Berg stalked pacesetter Briecat and passed her in the final yards, winning by a half-length in 1:34.78.
The winner paid $4, $2.80 and $2.10, Briecat returned $4.80 and $3.60, and Value Stream paid $5 to show.
Trained by Paco Gonzalez for owners and breeders John and Cheryl Toffan, Burg Berg won for the first time since June 7, 2009. She has four victories in 16 career starts.
The 4-year-old filly increased her career earnings to $226,654.
